2019 Overture (2022)
2019 Overture was the winning submission of the first ever Hunter Symphony Orchestra Call for Scores. It was written as a reflection on what things were like during the calm before the storm.
Unreal (2021)
This piece, originally inspired by a theory assignment based on composites, is a midi realization of a moving, but atonal line at a very fast tempo
Green Line Good (2021)
This fugue for String Quartet was originally written as a joke (In D Major, and with an intermediate understanding of voice leading), but was later revived in F Major in 2021 and premiered in the 2021 Walden Creative Musicians Retreat in Dublin, NH.
Organized Chaos (2020)
Composed just before COVID hit the Western Hemisphere, this 2020 work for Pierrot Ensemble uses intricate counterpoint and drastic contour to treat the ensemble as five "simultaneous soloists." It was premiered by the Talea Ensemble in early 2021
Namanil (2020)
The name of this piece is the result of taking the word "Minimal" and swapping the m's and i's with the n's and a's and vice versa. It was premiered on the piano by pianist Jacob Greenberg in early 2021, but it is also playable on the harp.
Variations in E Minor (2020)
Also known as "Variations on a Recurring Melancholy Theme in E Minor", the theme for this piece came shortly after a rough patch prior to the lockdown. Come April of 2020, it would be the centerpiece in a series of variations and become the first score video posted on the official Philip Henry Garcia YouTube Channel
The Triggered Theorist (2018)
With its not-so-comfortable (and against the common practice) parallel fifths. This piece depicts that very moment when a zero on a theory assignment is imminent.
The Innkeeper (2018)
This piece was inspired by a well-known character in Hearthstone that is notorious for welcoming you back to the game and hosting matches at the hearth. It was premiered under the Queens College New Music Group and was performed by Jennifer Spicher (Flute) and Emily John (Harp)
Evolution (2018)
This piece is the second étude composed and performed by Philip himself. With its challenging leaps and fast passages, this was yet another attempt for Philip to push his pianistic abilities to their limits.
An Étude of Inexperience (2017)
This piece is the first of two étude composed and performed by Philip himself. With its challenging leaps and fast passages, this was yet another attempt for Philip to push his pianistic abilities to their limits.
